Whether you're considering trail running for the first time or are an experienced ultra runner, we promise you a rewarding experience in a beautiful environment.

 

We are recognized for the spectacular courses, unsurpassed aid stations, well-marked trails, accurately measured distances, distinctive shirt designs, and friendly atmosphere – all at a reasonable price.

 

While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement.

 

 

Start:  La Jolla Canyon, Point Mugu State Park, Malibu, CA 90265.  Directions

Course:  Enjoy spectacular vistas of the coast, inland grasslands, tranquil ponds, and rugged mountain peaks as you travel through the western edge of the Santa Monica Mountains.

  9 Km - 1,030' 

18 Km - 1,940'

30 Km - 3,200' 

50 Km - 5,490'

(Elevation changes determined using an Avocet altimeter.)

Weather:  Malibu

 

Lodging:  Hotels/Motels, Camping 

 

Packet Pick-Up:     7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. at La Jolla Canyon, Point Mugu State Park

Time Limit:    There is an 8.5 hour time limit for the 50 Km distance.

Aid Stations:   Fully-stocked aid stations every 9 - 12 kilometers.   You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes & salt, water, and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drink.  However, it is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz. of water between aid stations.  Photo

Awards:   T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners. While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement. All 50 Km finishers will receive a custom coaster for the event.

Frequent Runner: 

  • 5% - If you have already entered at least 3 PCTR events this year, you qualify to receive a 5% discount off all PCTR events and merchandise for the rest of the year. Please request to upgrade your online account by clicking on the link under "Account Menu" in online registration.

 

 

Entry Fees:

 (Add $5 if registering after November 8, 2009.  Add $15 at check-in, if not sold out.) 

  •   9 Km - $30

(Pacific Coast Trail Runs supports environmental organizations that help promote and protect the environment for everyone. We regularly contribute to: Conservation International, Earth Island Institute, Tahoe Rim Trail Association, The National Audubon Society, The California State Parks Foundation, and other organizations. In addition, significant fees are paid to National, State, Regional, and County parks where PCTR events are held.)
