Montaña de Oro Trail Run

8 Km, 12 Km, 25 Km, & 50 Km

(Hikers welcome)

8:30 a.m.

    

Start:    Montaña de Oro State Park, Los Osos, CA.  The park is six miles southwest of Morro Bay and seven miles south of Los Osos on Pecho Road.  Directions.

Course:   Montaña de Oro, "Mountain of Gold", features seven miles of shoreline, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including 1,347-foot Valencia Peak.  The views are spectacular, the breezes always fresh, and you are never far from the sound and sight of the sea.  (Distances are accurately measured using a Rolatape® surveyor's measuring wheel.)

Elevation Gain:

                     8 Km -      800'

                    12 Km -   1,670'

                    25 Km -   3,200' 

                    50 Km -   6,400'

                    (Elevation changes determined using an Avocet altimeter.) 

Weather:  Los Osos

LodgingHotels/Motels, Camping

Packet Pick-Up:    7:30 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. at Montaña de Oro State Park.

Time Limit:    There is an 9-hour time limit for the 50 km distance.

Aid Stations:   Fully-stocked aid stations every 5 - 14 kilometers.  You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes & salt, water, and Conquest sports drink. If you would like to be sure that you have Clif product, SaltStick capsules, or any other specific item at the event, you should carry it with you. Additionally, it is highly recommended that runners carry at least 20 oz. of water between aid stations.  Photo

Awards:   T-shirts will be given to all finishers.  While awards are given to the first female and male finishers, PCTR events are designed to encourage the enjoyment of trail running and emphasize personal achievement.
