Course

Each lap is 3.1 miles around Lake Merritt.  The course is flat with 70% dirt and 30% asphalt path.  (Distances are accurately measured using a Rolatape® surveyor's measuring wheel.)

Friends and/or family members are welcome to run 1 or 2 laps during the event to share in your experience.  “Pacing” isn’t allowed.  Generally, we want your achievement at Lake Merritt Half Day (distance and/or place) to be a solo effort.

No dogs allowed on the course. Please don't leave pets in your vehicle.

Transponder Timing

Each lap will be recorded using a timing transponder.  Please wear the neoprene bracelet on your ankle for the transponder to be detected.

During the final hour for each event, there will be a .7 mile loop (around Fairyland) to complete rather than continuing around the lake.

Aid Station

Fully-stocked, self-serve aid station every 1.5 miles.  You can expect fresh fruit, salty snacks, assorted candy, boiled potatoes & salt, chicken soup, water, soda, and Clif Shot Electrolyte sports drink.

The park doesn’t allow private tents or extra tables.  Chairs and coolers are acceptable.

The parking areas are near, < 150 yards, from the course.
